Gloria Rukomeza

I am a global health professional with experience in coordinating multidisciplinary research projects, healthcare programs and advocacy-related initiatives. My previous MSc research at the University of Oxford focused on the intersection of climate change and AMR through the lens of Nature-based Solutions (NbS), and I have since contributed to policy-oriented research and roundtable dialogues across Asia, Africa, and Europe. Currently, I also support research implementation and multisectoral stakeholder engagement across regions. I am interested in CLIMAR’s focus on collaborative, interdisciplinary responses to environmental and infectious disease risks, and would value contributing to ongoing dialogue and applied research in this space.

I bring interdisciplinary technical expertise in global health research coordination, cross-sectoral programme implementation, and stakeholder engagement, particularly in fragile and under-resourced settings. Currently, I coordinate a study on Mpox in Pregnancies, a collaborative project between DRC, Rwanda and the University of Oxford. In this role, I support clinical research integration within local health systems, and facilitating cross-regional collaboration between multiple institutions, overseeing data quality and ethics processes, and project reporting to funders.

In addition to this, I serve as a Research Consultant on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) with the University of Oxford, contributing to research at the interface of AMR, climate change, and nature-based solutions. Through this role, I have developed expertise in:

  • Conducting scoping reviews and evidence synthesis on environmental dimensions of AMR
  • Translating complex technical evidence into policy-relevant outputs
  • Facilitating multi-stakeholder consultations and thematic roundtables
  • Supporting conceptual development of interdisciplinary research frameworks

I am keen to support CLIMAR’s mission by contributing to:

  • Interdisciplinary research design and implementation
  • Technical review of study protocols and reports
  • Knowledge translation and policy engagement activities
  • Co-development of tools and outputs related to planetary health, AMR, and systems thinking, including collaborative grant applications
  • Convening cross-sectoral dialogues to bridge research and practice

My combined experience coordinating large-scale implementation studies and contributing to global AMR-climate scholarship equips me to support both practical programme delivery and strategic scientific input. I am also experienced in navigating ethical processes, coordinating funder communications, managing field-based research teams, and contributing to training and capacity-building across diverse regional contexts.
